On Saturday, Aug. 23, the jig was up for a number of wanted individuals in St. Maryโs County.
ย St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office in cooperation with the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack, Maryland State Police Homeland Security & Intelligence Bureau and the United States Marshallโs Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force joined forces to conduct a countywide warrant initiative codenamed, โOperation Most Wanted Weekendโ.ย ย The joint operation consisted of 30 troopers, 30 deputies and St. Maryโs County Correctionโs personnel.ย The operation was also supported by civilian personnel from both organizations with Sheriff Timothy Cameron and Lieutenant Michael Thompson maintaining operational command.
ย 10, three-man and 13, two-man teams attempted warrants services on over 200 active warrants.ย All warrants were pre-screened by the Sheriffโs Office, MSP Barrack personnel and members of the Southern Maryland Intelligence Center (SMIC) along with Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center (MCAC) to identify wanted individuals still residing in St. Maryโs County.
ย Over 400 residences were visited resulting inย 25 warrant apprehensions.ย Maryland State Police personnel served a total of 13 Leonardtown Barrack open warrants while Deputies from the St. Maryโs Sheriffโs Office served 12 open warrants. ย Maryland State Police personnel also arrested three subjects for the unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, recovered one stolen registration plate and arrested two subjects for Driving While Intoxicated.ย Of the individuals arrested, TFC M. Davis of the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement Task Force Team dubbed WAVE, utilizing the mobile tag reader, located and subsequently arrested one individual for the possession of a stolen registration plate.ย The individual arrested was also found to be in the possession of a large quantity of crack cocaine.
ย Individuals arrested were processed at the St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office Mobile Command Post located in Lexington Park.ย Members of the Southern Maryland Intelligence Center performed extensive debriefings on all individuals arrested.ย Maryland State Police Trooper Seven was on standby for this operation but was not utilized.
