On May 24, 2011 BCI detectives responded to the emergency room at St. Mary’s Hospital after a 12 year old female advised hospital staff she had been sexually assaulted earlier in the day. Following an investigation by BCI detectives it was determined Jamal Gwan Ball, age 22 of Park Hall, Maryland had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim. Ball was arrested and charged with second degree rape and third degree sex offense. He is incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
