
WALDORF, Md. — A man was seriously injured around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 9, 2025, when a vehicle struck him on Crain Highway (U.S. Route 301) near Mattawoman Drive.
Crews arrived and found the victim lying in the roadway, believed to be about 30 years old, who was breathing but unresponsive. EMS reported major head trauma and heavy bleeding. A MEDEVAC was pre-launched due to the severity of injuries.
Firefighters established a landing zone at Pinefield Park, and Maryland State Police Trooper 2 flew the man to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and was not injured.
During the response, traffic on Crain Highway was detoured through the nearby Sonic Drive-In parking lot.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
