At 12:32 p.m. March 31, Bay District Volunteer firefighters responded to a report of construction equipment on fire just north of Butlers Place on Rt. 235, reports Fire Sergeant Jeff Evans.

The first crew was on the scene two minutes after dispatch and confirmed a large piece of equipment fully involved in fire.

The equipment was approximately 1.5 miles back into the woods. Engine 33 pulled past the fire and then the crew extended a 400ft attack line through the woods to reach the fire.

The crew made quick work of the fire bringing it under control in approximately 15 minutes.

While on the scene Bay Districtโ€™s Stations 3 and 9 were alerted to several other brush fires.

This call was the first of a busy day for Bay District, responding to seven calls in 2 1/2 hours and a total of 11 runs this day.

Units Cleared the construction equipment call at 1:47 p.m.
