
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Emergency crews responded to a serious single-vehicle crash on Point Lookout Road at Thompson Orchard Lane late Friday night.
The crash was reported at about 9:25 p.m. Initial emergency dispatch information indicated the vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a utility pole and came to rest on its side.
A 22-year-old man reportedly suffered a serious injury to his left leg. Emergency personnel requested a Maryland State Police helicopter, with Great Mills High School designated as the landing zone.
Maryland State Police Trooper 7 transported the patient to Capital Regional Hospital for treatment.
The crash damaged the utility pole and brought down power lines. Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative was notified and asked to respond.
Point Lookout Road was closed near the crash scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and never approach downed utility lines.
The patient’s condition has not been confirmed.
