On April 30 at 1:44 a.m., Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to Empress Place in Bryans Road for a citizenโ€™s report of unknown trouble.

Investigation revealed Paul Daniel Panholzer, 24, of Mechanicsville and the victim, a 25-year-old Bryans Road man, were attending a party when Panholzer approached the victim and began a fight.

Panholzer retrieved a knife from his truck, cut the victim and chased him with the knife before fleeing the scene in his truck.

Officers arrived on the scene and broadcast a lookout for Panholzer. Officer R. Cuyler observed the Panholzerโ€™s truck traveling on Route 228 near Western Parkway in Waldorf and conducted a stop.

Panholzer was arrested without incident. Panholzer and the victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

Panholzer was charged with first-degree assault and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
