PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – The Board of Directors of Project ECHO Homeless Shelter is sad to announce the passing of their Executive Director, Lori Heron.
For 30 years, Lori served as the house manager/ Executive Director of Project ECHO. When she started, it was a small shelter for 8 people on the grounds of St. John Vianney Church.
Under her direction it grew to a 40 bed, 90 day shelter for men, women and children. It became a shelter whose atmosphere is unique in that it is a family atmosphere whose mission is to give the residents time to regroup, put their lives back together and move on as productive members of society, rather than the all-too-frequent institutional atmosphere of many shelters. She was an exceptional and caring leader and instilled a deep spirit of caring and compassion in those carrying out Project ECHO’s mission and vision.
During her 30 years at Project ECHO, Lori deeply touched the souls of many; not only the residents, but also the volunteers and staff who worked with Lori and supported Project ECHO. She will be deeply missed.
The Board of ECHO strongly encourages all those who knew and loved Lori to come to Jefferson Patterson Park on June 5th from 1-4 where the family will meet with all persons who wish to offer their condolences. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lori’s memory to Project ECHO Homeless Shelter.

She was a wonderful person. She will be missed. Prayers for her family and friends.โค๏ธ๐
