Leonardtown, MD – For the second year in a row, on Sunday, November 25, more than 700 Museum Stores in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, ten countries and three continents, will offer a unique and experiential shopping opportunity. The Friends of St. Clement’s Island & Piney Point Museums are thrilled to participate in this initiative and support our county-run historic sites and museums.

 

The 2018 holiday exhibits at both the St. Clement’s Island Museum and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum are centered on reading and books and, as part of the museums’ participation in Museum Store Sunday, the museum stores at each site will offer book discounts of 25% on the 25th, $10 off Family Museum Memberships, $5 off Individual Museum Memberships, a complimentary book gift of Lighthouses Short & Tall for each visiting family (while supplies last) and the 2018 Limited Edition Friends Holiday Ornament. Each will be available with special pricing for Friends members (the limited edition ornament will also be available November 23 at Christmas on the Square in Leonardtown). Each purchase in the Museum Stores supports the missions and programs of the St. Mary’s County Museum Division.

 

“Museum Store Sunday has built on the ‘Shop Local’ theme of Small Business Saturday. We want visitors to become patrons of our non-profit, treasured museums in St. Mary’s County,” said Jayne Walsh, museum store manager and buyer. “Our merchandise is unique, with offerings from local artists, authors and artisans that can’t be found online or at chain stores. Let’s make holiday shopping experiential, support us, BE A PATRON on November 25th from 12pm-4pm at the Museum Store at either St. Clement’s Island Museum or Piney Point Lighthouse Museum.”

The Friends of St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Museums raise funds in order to support historical interpretation, education programs and special needs of the sites managed by the Museum Division of St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation and Parks.
