Leonardtown, MD – Mr. J. Scott Smith, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to announce that St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS), the Collective Education Association of St. Mary’s County (CEASMC), the Education Association of St. Mary’s County (EASMC), and the St. Mary’s County Association of Supervisors and Administrators (SMASA), will co-sponsor a Drug Misuse Awareness and Prevention Seminar for parents and concerned community members. The seminar will be presented by SMCPS, Walden Behavioral Health of Southern Maryland, and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The seminar is scheduled to take place on April 7, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center (JAFCTC) located at 24005 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
Participants will be provided information on trends impacting drug misuse with a focus on how it is impacting our community youth, mental health and behavioral factors impacting drug addiction, and community resources to help with drug misuse and addiction.
Funding for the seminar is provided through a grant provided by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County. The seminar is supported by community partners to include the St. Mary’s County Health Department, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, St. Mary’s County Department of Aging and Human Services, Walden Behavioral Health of Southern Maryland, and the Behavioral Health Action Team of the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership.
