Leonardtown, MD –ย The annual gathering of cancer survivors and caring community members occurred Saturday, June 6 in Leonardtown. The 2015 Relay For Life of St. Maryโ€™s County included a schedule of activities that showcased local talent, touching ceremonies, inspiring speeches and spirited competitions.

The event was held at St. Maryโ€™s County Fairgrounds. The opening ceremonies started at 6 p.m. Prior to that the local Relay organization, which is affiliated with the American Cancer Society, held its 18th annual Survivors Reception.

According to the latest data available from Relay For Life of St. Maryโ€™s County leaders, approximately $160,000 has been raised in 2015.

Highlights from the dayโ€™s festivities included the Parade of Colors by the Great Mills High School ROTC, the singing of The Star Spangled Banner by Patuxent Voices and opening ceremony remarks by Imagine One Vice President Fred Severson. Other performers included Robbie Boothe, Super Magic Man and Gracieโ€™s Dance Troop.

The always emotional Luminaria Ceremony began around 9:30 p.m. Much later in the evening the Ms. Relay contest was held with the crowning of the 2015 Ms. Relay taking place shortly after midnight.
