Leonardtown, MD – The National Weather Service is urging St. Mary’s County residents to beware of widespread ponding of water on area roadways.

Light to moderate rain continues to spread across the region with normal drainage patterns potentially blocked by snow and ice. Poor drainage ponding of water is likely. More significant flooding is possible if heavier rain develops in a given area or if there is a severe drainage issue.

Drivers should not drive through water of unknown depth and remain alert for the potential for flood warnings to be posted.
