A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK.
The severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 4 p.m. for the following counties:
Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Charles, Dorchester, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, St. Mary’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, Worcester.
A special statement from the National Weather Service in Baltimore:
At 10:20 a.m., the Doppler Radar indicated a line of showers and thunderstorms that extended from near Washington, D.C., to near Fredericksburg moving east-southeast at 35 mph.
This storm will affect Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
These storms will produce locally heavy downpours along with cloud to ground lightning. Some storms will be capable of producing wind gusts around 40 mph along with small hail.
The communities of Stafford, King George, La Plata, St. Charles and Waldorf will be affected by these storms.
