Charles E. Danford
Great Mills, MD—On April 4, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Thomas Seyfried responded to Great Mills Road in Great Mills for a reported assault.
While in route, Seyfried was updated by officers that the defendant, identified as Charles E. Danford, 43, of Lexington Park, had fled the scene and was headed towards Westbury on foot. Deputy Hannah Smith of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office encountered Danford on Lucca Way in Westbury.
When Seyfried arrived on the scene where the assault was alleged to have occurred contact was made with the victim who stated, “He was driving with another of the victims when they received a phone call from Danford. Before ending the call, Danford stated, “Alright then I’ll see you there,” according to charging documents.
The victim advised they pulled into the parking lot at Cadillac Jack’s and Danford was there standing shirtless in the parking lot. The victim advised, “he was driving through the parking lot to leave when Danford allegedly threw a stick, striking the vehicle,” according to charging documents. One of the victims advised that Danford and the other victim began arguing in the parking lot before Danford swung a closed fist at the victim.
The physical altercation was stopped, however Danford then proceeds to shout, “I’ll kill you too expletive,” according to charging documents. One of the victims looked over at Danford, who was, “swinging a razor knife, actively slashing one of the victims across his back,” according to charging documents. Danford also damaged the victim’s car by, “cutting his front driver’s seat and smashed his rear driver’s side window with a hammer.
Seyfried requested that Danford be charged with two counts of first-degree assault , two counts of second-degree assault , malicious destruction of property and theft less than $100. Danford faces a maximum jail sentence of 53 years and five months and/or a maximum fine of $1,000.
