Six more weeks of winter really just means six more weeks to prepare for spring. It’s only inevitable that winter is slowly but surely coming to an end (unless you’re in Winterfell) and we should be getting ready for spring. Mowing lawns, tilling gardens, aerating your yard are all things we do in the spring time. Of course there’s also spring cleaning to worry about as well. Now is the best time ever to begin taking your spring/summer equipment out of storage, start your equipment, and make sure everything is in good running order.
Lawn Mower Won’t Start?
Did your equipment start right up? Awesome. You just need to have your equipment cleaned and tuned up. Why? Believe it or not leaving your equipment gunked up with dirt or grass can actually cause it to stop working. A tune up helps ensure your equipment is running properly and helps it to last longer.
If you’re pulling and pulling and pulling, you may need some minor work done to your carburetor. This is usually caused when your outdoor power equipment is stored with fuel remaining in the tank, fuel lines, and/or carburetor. Untreated fuel or fuel that hasn’t been stabilized will slowly, but surely eat away at the rubber and plastic parts in your fuel line and will also eat away at your fuel lines since they are rubber. Don’t cry. This is minor work. Fuel line is a couple dollars per foot, and carburetor kits can be as low as twelve dollars. Carburetor parts are small so you’ll want to be sure to keep track of everything or you’ll be buying more parts.
