On October 21, 2019 Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot presented SMECO with the 2019 Cornerstone Award for local business excellence for Charles County. The award recognizes SMECO’s commitment and willingness to uplift Southern Maryland through the charitable work of the Co-op and its employees.
