Socket To Me: Mechanicsville Man Charged After Crack Residue Found During Arrest

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A Mechanicsville man was charged after deputies executing a search warrant in Leonardtown allegedly found suspected crack cocaine residue on two makeshift smoking devices.

Gregory Alan Fuchs, 34, of Mechanicsville, was charged July 10, 2026, with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to charging documents, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office executed a search-and-seizure warrant at approximately 9 a.m. in the 28300 block of Point Lookout Road.

A 2017 Ford Explorer was parked at the property with Fuchs identified as the operator.

As Fuchs exited the vehicle, a lieutenant reportedly saw him move his right hand toward the lower windshield area.

Fuchs was initially detained during the search and later released. Deputies then allegedly found a makeshift smoking device in the area where his hand had been.

The device was described as a glass cylinder fitted with a metal socket and reportedly contained suspected crack cocaine residue.

After the device was discovered, deputies located Fuchs walking near Point Lookout Road and Colton Point Road and took him into custody.

During a search following the arrest, a detective allegedly found a second metal socket in Fuchs’ right front pocket. That item also reportedly contained suspected crack cocaine residue.

Charging documents state a records check showed Fuchs’ Maryland driver’s license was suspended. He was also issued traffic citations related to driving while suspended and attempting to drive without the required license or authorization.

Fuchs was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and later released on his own recognizance.

A trial is scheduled for Aug. 24, 2026, in St. Mary’s County District Court
