Visitors seeking a unique holiday experience can look no further than the Christmas Open House hosted by the St. Clement’s Island Museum. The holiday event takes place on Saturday, December 13 and includes free museum admission! As an added bonus visitors can enjoy the 29th Annual Christmas Doll & Train Exhibit (Christmas by the Bay), holiday refreshments, and a program of fun and festivity!

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand from 12 noon to 2 p.m. to greet children and listen to their very special Christmas wishes. Be sure to bring your camera!  At 2:30 p.m. the Southern Maryland Sound Barbershop Chorus will perform holiday tunes and standards in barbershop style for all to enjoy.  Meet colonial re-enactor Mike Barbour portraying the 17th-century character Dr. Thomas Gerard, hear the origin of the famous song “Twelve Days of Christmas” and play heritage games with the kids from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Crab Claw Museum Store will offer an array of holiday gifts for everyone on your gift giving list!  Don’t miss the crab pot Christmas trees, nautical ornaments, jewelry, clothing, books, children’s corner, home décor and more!

The Doll & Train Exhibit has been a St. Mary’s County tradition for 29 years. A wide selection of vintage and collectible dolls, toys and working miniature trains will delight kids of all ages!  Each year the theme changes so there is always something new to see and learn.  A free boy’s and girl’s bicycle raffle is also available, thanks to a donation by the Seventh District Optimist Club. Three beautiful and fully-decorated trees are also being raffled off by The Friends of the St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Museums.  The decorated trees were donated by Carol Cribbs and Maggie Hammett. Free punch, cookies, chocolate tasting and the warmth of museum staff and volunteers will round out a great holiday experience.  The exhibit will be available through January 4, 2015,  but call ahead for the complete holiday schedule.
