The St. Mary’s College women’s basketball team dropped a 77-59 non-conference decision to Rutgers-Camden on Monday evening. With the win, the Lady Raptors improve to 3-4 overall while the Seahawks fall to 1-6 overall with the loss.

The Lady Raptors took a 36-29 lead at halftime in large part to shooting 56 percent (14-of-25) from the field.

The Seahawks trailed by seven at the intermission but only shot 33.3 percent (12-of-36) in the half and saw sophomore forward Lisa Daciek (Laurel, MD/Atholton) post seven first-half points to keep the team within striking distance.

Rutgers-Camden pulled away and outscored the Seahawks 41-30 in the second half. Sophomore guard Krystal Jankowski notched 16 of her game-high 20 points in the second half along with six rebounds and a team-high four assists. The Lady Raptors also received 17 points, ten rebounds and nine blocked shots from senior center Megan Rulon to earn the victory.

St. Mary’s was led by freshman forward Allie Scott (Laurel, MD/Atholton) who posted 14 points. Daciek finished the game with ten points while sophomore guard Taylor Yearwood (Washington D.C./Holy Cross Academy) had a team-high nine rebounds and also tied for the team lead with five assists.

Freshman guard Christie Rogers (Davidsonville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) scored her first points of the season for the Seahawks in the contest. Rogers posted nine points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc, in just ten minutes of action.

The Seahawks will return to action on Friday, December 9, when they host Neumann College in a non-conference contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
