Update Sept. 3:
Hollins is currently being held in lieu of a $250,000 bail.
La Plata, MD – The La Plata Police Department reported Wednesday evening, Sept. 2 that investigators have identified the individual who tweeted a threat against town residents.
An arrest warrant was obtained and issued for Carlos Anthony Hollins, 20 of Waldorf. Hollins was taken into custody without incident by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in Waldorf shortly before 9 p.m. He was charged with making threats of mass violence.
The tweet sent during the late afternoon read, “IM NOT GONNA STAND FOR THIS NO. MORE. TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LA PLATA.”
Around 4:43 p.m., town police were alerted about the tweet. Department heads took precautions, adding extra officers to patrol the area.
Court records show a peace order was issued against Hollins in April of 2014 and it expired seven months later. He was also previously charged with trespassing in 2013. Those cases have been closed. There is no information on when Hollins will be in court for a hearing on this latest charge.
