The Saturday, Sept. 6, Raid on the Tiki Bar in Solomons has postponed to Saturday, Sept. 20.ย Blame tropical storm Hanna for the decision. How much fun could we have being soaked by rain?

Activities will begin on Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. Then, the pending raid will not be by federal authorities searching for illicit substances, it will not be by some joint taskforce, it will be by the Calvert Fraternal Order of Police!
ย Whatโs more, everyone is invited to join the raid on the Tiki bar. For only $20 anyone interested can come and enjoy an afternoon of fun while helping to raise money for the Calvert County Fraternal Order of Police Benevolence Fund.
Lt. Ricky Thomas of the Calvert Sheriff’s Department stated, “The FOP Lodge 109 provides all the funding for various charities through the benevolence fund. We give money to the cancer society, various little league teams, but also we provoide funds for officers injured.”
ย The raid is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. While at the raid, attendees will enjoy drink specials, all-they-can-eat food provided by โGrill Sergeant BBQโ who will be barbecuing their world famous pig. Entertainment will be feature CAISO a steel drum band from 2 to 7 p.m. and One Louder, an ’80s Cover Band from 7 to 10 p.m.
Blocks of tickets we be sold to businesses who would like to advertise on our site and t-shirts sold at the event. The Tiki Bar will be offering free cab rides to and from event via Chesapeake Cab Company on a first come first serve basis for a minimum of four passengers.
There will also be a raffle: First Prize will be a cruise to the Bahamas, second prize will be a $100 gift card, and third prize will be three different Tiki Bar T-shirts. In addition to that will be a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds go to the F.O.P benevolence fund.
ย “We would like to express our appreciation to everyone at the Tiki Bar,” said Thomas. “They are great to work with for this and the opening. They are good people.”
ย Tiki Bar manager, Joe Kurley said, “This is a great event. We want to let everyone know that this is a nice thing to do this at a time of the year when not much is going on.
“
