LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A 3-month-old infant died following an emergency response Monday afternoon at a Leonardtown residence reportedly being used as a daycare.

Police and emergency medical personnel responded at approximately 4 p.m. July 13, 2026, to the 39000 block of Lake Cecil Lane.

CPR was in progress at the scene, and the infant was transported by ambulance to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.

Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 was placed on standby for a possible medical evacuation, but the infant was not airlifted.

The child was later pronounced dead.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death. At this time, investigators do not suspect foul play.

The residence was reportedly being used as a daycare, though officials had not independently confirmed that detail.
