LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Customers at Boone’s Bagels could soon enjoy a mimosa or beer with their meal after the Leonardtown Town Council unanimously approved a letter of support for the business’s application for a Class B beer and wine restaurant license.

During its recent meeting, the council voted in favor of supporting Boone’s Bagels LLC, located at 41654 Fenwick St., as it seeks approval from the St. Mary’s County Board of License Commissioners for the license.

The letter of support also includes the restaurant’s outdoor seating area.

Town staff explained that Boone’s Bagels is requesting a beer and wine license only. Council members briefly discussed how the license would apply to the restaurant’s shared building, noting that the interior is divided and that any operational requirements related to the shared space would ultimately be determined by the county liquor board.

Council members also discussed the possibility of serving alcoholic beverages during breakfast and weekend hours, with one member noting that customers may enjoy having “a mimosa” with breakfast.

Following the discussion, the council unanimously approved the request for a letter of support.

The approval does not grant the liquor license itself. Instead, it allows Boone’s Bagels to move forward in the licensing process with the St. Mary’s County Board of License Commissioners, which has the final authority to approve or deny the application.

If approved by the county, the Class B restaurant license would allow Boone’s Bagels to serve beer and wine to patrons in conjunction with meals inside the restaurant and within its approved outdoor seating area.
