LEONARDTOWN, MD– Dancing will be encouraged at the U.S. Navy Band Commodores Jazz Ensemble outdoor concert in historic Leonardtown Square. The event starts at 6 p.m. May 21, weather permitting.

Regarded for their renditions of big band jazz over the last 40 years, the 19-piece ensemble will treat listeners to an eclectic night of music, said Maria Fleming,ย Public Relationsย  & Events Coordinator for theย Commissioners of Leonardtown.

“The group will perform with a vocalist, and play a mix of traditional big band music, exciting jazz vocal arrangements as well as fresh new instrumental music written specifically for the Commodores of today,” said Fleming.

The concert is free to the public, and lawn seating is available, said Fleming.

“Enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants, then grab a blanket or a chair and join us on the Square. Dancing is encouraged, and the portion of the Square around the Memorials will be closed to parking and traffic,” Fleming said.ย

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be cancelled, said Fleming.ย
