Admission fees for athletic events in Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert counties have increased by $1, beginning with the 2011-12 school year. Rates were raised by the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) and apply to all county events in which an admission fee is charged. Rates are as follows:
- Varsity events – $5;
- Freshman/junior varsity double header events – $5;
- Freshman events – $4; and
- Junior varsity – $4.
The increase aligns with fees the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSA) charges for most state events. School system employees, along with one guest, are admitted to county athletic events free by showing their staff identification badge. Senior citizens can use free passes available through the school system only in the county in which they are issued.
Employees cannot use their badges to gain free admission at state events and must purchase a ticket at the regular admission fee. Coaches with MPSSAA coach passes are admitted free to events. For more information on SMAC sports, visit http://79287.digitalsports.com/.
