WALDORF, Md. — A local law firm is winning praise across the community after delivering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for players and families in La Plata Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer program. Thanks to a generous partnership with Trollinger Law LLC, families were treated to an unforgettable night on the field with D.C. United — creating memories that will last long after the final whistle.
Trollinger Law LLC, based in Waldorf, recently coordinated an unforgettable night with Major League Soccer’s D.C. United, treating players, coaches and families from La Plata Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer program to a special outing at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. The firm chartered a bus for participants and arranged a unique opportunity for them to walk on the field alongside professional players.
The group attended D.C. United’s July 5 match against Atlanta United, part of the team’s “Marvel Night” festivities. While the game itself brought MLS excitement, it was the on-field experience before kickoff that left a lasting impression on the TOPSoccer athletes and volunteer helpers.

The experience, hosted in partnership with the soccer initiative TOPSoccer — which serves young athletes with disabilities — was made possible through the leadership of attorney Matt Trollinger and his team.
“All we can say is WOW!! Trollinger Law LLC reached out to us about our TOPSoccer program and wanting to coordinate a soccer night with D.C. United at Audi Field and we can’t be more grateful,” La Plata Youth Soccer shared in a Facebook post.

TOPSoccer, an outreach initiative of US Youth Soccer, offers community-based training and team play specifically designed to bring the opportunity of soccer to children with intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities. The local program is offered through La Plata Youth Soccer. Fall session information and registration is available at www.lpysa.org.
The program’s continued success isn’t possible without the dedication of its coaches and volunteers. Coaches Lauren Martin and Matt Petricoin bring energy and leadership that help create a safe, inclusive and fun environment where every player grows, learns and feels supported.
In a statement from the firm, Matt Trollinger shared:
“We pride ourselves in what we do as a firm, fighting for our clients in the courtroom for injury victims, but it’s also very important that we look for opportunities to give back to our Southern Maryland community. Our attorneys and staff live, volunteer, raise their families and coach here.
“With D.C. United, this was an excellent opportunity to work with La Plata Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer program and honor the young athletes, their volunteers and coaches — to recognize some very special young soccer players. To see the smiles on their faces as they came out to the field, and see the D.C. United players interact with them, was something that we were very proud to coordinate.
“We look forward to future community events with D.C. United, including player appearances on July 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Laurel Springs Park, and a VIP experience where we are taking 10 high school players to observe D.C. United practice at the Inova Training Center on Aug. 12.”
