Shortly after 6 p.m. Oct. 24, a Chesapeake Ranch Estates house fire drew firefighters from Solomon’s Island, St. Leonard, Prince Frederick, Hollywood and Bay District volunteer fire departments.
According to reports from responding departments, the two-story home at 842 Steer Horn Lane was heavily engulfed in fire when the first units arrived, and responders were unsure if residents were inside.
Firefighters started an aggressive interior attack on the fire, and two animals were rescued from the residence, reports Ricky Smith of Solomon’s company. They also confirmed that all residents had safety evacuated.
The fire was put under control within 45 minutes, but all units did not clear the scene for several hours.
The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
