During the weekly CompStat meetings a trend was identified involving multiple burglaries’s to residences throughout the northern portion of St. Mary’s County. St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Crime Analysts were able to compile statistical data regarding the methods used to commit the burglaries. BCI detectives incorporated this information into their investigation and were able to identify suspects.
On May 30, 2013, St. Mary’s County BCI detectives arrested Jonathan C. Gardner, age 22, of Mechanicsville, Maryland and Megan N. Thompson, age 21, of Valley Lee, Md. Detectives recovered numerous items which had been stolen during daytime residential burglaries in St. Mary’s County.
Gardner and Thompson were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention, charged with 3 counts of First Degree Burglary, 2 counts of Theft $10,000 – $100,000, Theft $1,000 – $10,000 and Malicious Destruction of property less than $500.
Thompson and Gardner are being held on $10,000 bond each. Both have additional charges pending in Anne Arundel and Charles County for similar daytime residential burglaries in those counties.
