Two Charged In Alleged Mop Water Assault At Waldorf LA Fitness

WALDORF, Md. — A dispute between an LA Fitness employee cleaning a locker room and a gym member preparing to shower led to criminal second-degree assault charges against both individuals nearly a year later, according to court documents filed in Charles County.

Ramona Grandos, 66, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Christopher Adam Worthington, 40, of Waldorf, were each charged in the District Court for Charles County with one count of second-degree assault. The charges were filed July 18, 2026, through separate statements of charges applications.

According to the applications for statements of charges, a Charles County Sheriff’s Office officer responded at approximately 7 a.m. Aug. 8, 2025, to LA Fitness, located at 2916 Festival Way, for a reported assault.

When the officer arrived, investigators spoke with both Grandos and Worthington, who each alleged the other had assaulted them.

According to charging documents, investigators wrote that Grandos, an employee at LA Fitness, was cleaning the men’s locker room bathrooms at approximately 6 a.m. when Worthington entered the locker room intending to use one of the showers. Worthington changed into a towel while Grandos continued cleaning the area.

Court records state Worthington alleged Grandos splashed him with water while cleaning. According to investigators, Worthington became upset, picked up the bucket Grandos was using, and allegedly threw the water back at her, striking her. The responding officer reported observing that Grandos’ clothing was wet.

Worthington also told deputies he became concerned after Grandos took a photograph of him following the incident because he said he believed she may have photographed his genitals. Grandos, however, told investigators she took the photograph only to document the incident after Worthington threw the bucket of water at her. She showed the image to the responding officer, who reported Worthington’s genitals were not visible because he was wearing a towel.

For both Grandos and Worthington, a summons was issued and served July 18, 2026. They are both scheduled to appear for preliminary inquiries on Sept. 14, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
