Between 5 and 9 p.m. June 5, Senior Deputy First Class Emory Johnson and Corporal Christopher Morley of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover Cops in Shops operation at Captain Sam’s in Avenue.

Five persons were approached and asked to present identification.ย  All the subjects were of proper age to purchase alcoholic beverages and possessed valid identification.

On the night of June 6, SDFC Johnson and SDFC Ross conducted a Cops in Shops operation at the Third Base Store in Loveville.

Six persons were approached and asked to present identification.ย  All of the subjects were of proper age to purchase alcoholic beverages and possessed valid identification.

Cops in Shops is an undercover operation in which police officers in plain clothing pose as customers or store employees in order to detect under aged persons attempting to purchase and or using false identifications to obtain alcoholic beverages.
