MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a Mechanicsville home. On Monday, April 2, crews responded to the 28000 block of Woodburn Hill Road after a neighbor reported a house fire.

At 2:27 p.m., 44 firefighters arrived to the scene of a fully involved, two-story single family home with flames showing throughout the house and roof. After one hour, units were able to get the fire under control. Nobody was injured from the fire.ย 

The overall cost of damage is estimated to be $250,000. Investigation revealed the the fire originated on the deck but the cause is still under investigation. There were no smoke detectors found in the house.
