UPDATE from the St. Mary’s County Public Schools on 9/18/14 at 1:50 p.m.
On Thursday, September 18, 2014, several calls were received reporting a bomb threat at Leonardtown High School.ย As a result, the school was immediately placed on lockdown.ย A coordinated response was initiated immediately with school and law enforcement officials.ย The schoolโs administration followed the emergency response protocols outlined in the St. Maryโs County Public Schools (SMCPS) School Crisis and Emergency Response Plan and continually worked with law enforcement authorizes to complete the investigation.ย The school building was placed in a lockdown status while law enforcement units searched the building.ย The building was cleared for use at approximately 1:00 p.m.ย The school continued with the normal schedule for the day at that time. ย
Mr. J. Scott Smith, Administrator in Charge for SMCPS, stated โThe safety of our students and staff always comes first, so we must take all threats seriously.ย With that said, we will continue to work with law enforcement to identify the caller and pursue appropriate charges to the fullest extent of the law.โ

Alleged bomb threat at Leonardtown High School:
Reportedly the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office officers are on scene at Leonardtown High School investigating an alleged bomb threat that was made via phone.
There has been no official statement or evidence at this time to verify that there actually is a bomb at the school.
