Waldorf, MD (Update) — A vehicle fire was reported Saturday at 1:14 p.m. on Mount Pleasant Road in Waldorf, Maryland, according to a report released by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The report read that it took five Hughesville Volunteer Firefighters 10 minutes to extinguish flames after responding to the scene where a 1986 Chevrolet, Corvette was burning.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office said the fire was caused by the vehicles exhaust system becoming hot and igniting nearby vegetation — the owner sustained an approximate $1,000.00 loss.


Waldorf, MD – Fire crews were dispatched around noon Saturday, July 30 to a home on Mount Pleasant Road in Waldorf from the report of a fire. When crews arrived they found a Chevrolet Corvette in flames. Photos from the scene indicate a second vehicle may have also been damaged. No further information on what sparked the blaze is available at this time.
