On Feb. 11 at approximately 4:43 p.m. DFC James W. Smith responded to Md. Route 2 at Dalrymple Road in Sunderland, for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

After a thorough investigation it was determined that a 1996 Chevy truck traveling south on Md. Route 2 driven by Gloria Tereshinski, 45 of Owings, passed a tractor trailer that was stopped in the roadway to allow a pedestrian to cross.ย  Tereshinski crossed the double yellow line on the left, bypassing the tractor trailer in order to enter the left turn lane to make a left onto Dalrymple Road.ย 

A 14-year-old male of Sunderland was crossing the road on foot and had just passed in front of the tractor trailer when he was struck by Tereshinskiโ€™s vehicle.ย  Tereshinski remained on the scene and offered assistance.ย  The juvenile was flown by Trooper 2 to Childrenโ€™s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for treatment of possible leg and head injuries.ย  Tereshinski was cited for improper overtaking of a motor vehicle and failing to use due caution to avoid a collision with a pedestrian.


At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squadย responded to a report a of child struck by vehicle at State Route 2 and Dalrymple Road in Calvert County.

First responders arrived to find a boy patient approximately 14-years-old who had been struck by a vehicle.
The patient was treated and transported by ambulance to the Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter landing site so he could be transported to Childrenโ€™s National Medical Center.

The boy suffered injuries to at least on of his legs and his side. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time. More information will be released as it is made available by authorities.
