At 8:42 p.m. Jan. 24, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Hughesville Sunoco located at 8144 Old Leonardtown Road in Hughesville for the report of an armed robbery.
Investigation revealed a male suspect entered the store armed with a shotgun or a rifle and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect smashed the driver’s side window of his vehicle in order to enter it and was last seen driving south on Old Leonardtown Road. Officers searched the area but the suspect was not located.
The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and a mask.
