
MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A house fire in Mechanicsville Thursday evening displaced one resident and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire was reported at approximately 5:23 p.m. on April 16, 2026, at a single-family home in the 40500 block of Medleys Lane.
Firefighters from the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, along with surrounding agencies. Crews brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
Investigators determined the fire originated in the attic. Officials reported the home was not equipped with smoke alarms.
No injuries were reported. One occupant was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Damage to the structure is estimated at $75,000, with an additional $25,000 in damage to contents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
