On November 11, 2012, at approximately 9:29 A.M. deputies responded to Harrison St., Great Millโs, Maryland, for the report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.ย Deputies discovered James B. Clark, Jr. of Great Mills, had been struck by a motor vehicle and the striking vehicle had failed to remain at the scene.ย
Clark was transported by Maryland State Police, Trooper 6 to the University of Maryland with life threatening injuries. St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. On November 20, 2012, Clark succumbed to the injuries received from the accident.
During the subsequent investigation, evidence was obtained identifying the striking vehicle, as a metallic red/maroon 2012 Dodge Ram pick up truck and the owner identified. As a result of that investigation the St. Maryโs County Stateโs Attorneyโs Office filed a Criminal Information on July 25, 2013 in the Circuit Court for St. Maryโs County charging Thomas Dion Gunn, age 22, of Lexington Park, Maryland, with Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Criminally Negligent Manner Causing Death, Failing to Immediately Stop Motor Vehicle at Scene of an Accident Involving Death and Fail to Immediately Return and Remain at the Scene of an Accident involving Death.
Gunn was served with a Criminal Information Summons on August 1, 2013, and is pending an appearance in the Circuit Court.ย ย
