On Sunday, March 27, 2011, at approximately 10:40 am, the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad had a report of a chimney fire at 3191 Hale Court.ย  First arriving unit reported a working fire.

Fire equipment from Huntingtown, Dunkirk, North Beach, Prince Frederick and St. Leonard as well as tanker from Benedict was on the call.

The Red Cross was on the scene to assist the homeowners and the Fire Marshall is doing an investigation of the fire.

FROM THE MARYLAND STATE FIRE MARSHALL

PRELIMINARY CAUSE: Accidental

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The home owners discovered smoke coming from the Chimney area
of their home and called 911. The fire departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
The investigation revealed that the fire started and was confined to the chimney and the immediate
area around the chimney. The home owners were displaced and are being assisted by the American
Red Cross and family members. The home owner suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated at
Calvert Memorial Hospital before being released.
