
LA PLATA, Md. – The Charles County Commissioners are seeking county residents who want to get involved in their community to fill vacancies on several boards, committees, and commissions. No experience required.
The Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board) reviews and approves the issuance and renewal of liquor licenses in Charles County, and establishes penalties for violations. Members serve four-year terms. Seeking District 2 and District 4 residents to fill vacancy.
The Nuisance Abatement Board conducts hearings pertaining to citizen complaints regarding unsightly accumulation of paper, junk, vehicle parts, trash, garbage, leaves, etc. and if grass, weeds, uncultivated vegetable growth, briars, bush and plants that are more than one foot high on private property.
The Internal Audit Oversight Committee advises the Board of Commissioners and the County Administrator on significant audit matters such as managementโs internal controls, compliance, performance and risk assessment practices, and the work plan for internal audits performed under the Internal Audit Charter.
The Governorโs Property Tax Assessment Board hears appeals from Charles County property owners who disagree with the values assessed by the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, and appeals concerning local tax credits, local taxes, and other local tax matters.
