UPDATE – On July 2, 2021 while conducting a proactive DUI Saturation Patrol in the California area, Tpr. J Pope attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on Three Notch Road. 

The vehicle left the roadway traveling into a ditch, up an embankment and into the Hollywood Plaza.  The vehicle proceeded through the interior and almost exited through the opposite side.

Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department personnel secured the building and the vehicle and were able to safely rescue the driver. 

The operator, identified as Khayyan Brumfield, 40 of Silver Spring, MD was suspected to be operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated and was subsequently arrested. 

Brumfield was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital where he was evaluated and cleared.  He was then transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with Driving a Vehicle while Impaired by a Controlled Dangerous Substance; CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana; CDS: Civil Possess Marijuana and other traffic related offenses.


HOLLYWOOD, Md. —
We are receiving reports of a vehicle which recently struck near the Hollywood Plaza. 

At approximately 2:31 a.m. on July 3, first responders were dispatched to the scene in the 24000 block of Mervell Dean Road. Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle into a building with the occupant maintaining their foot on the accelerator.

After gaining access to the building, first responders were able to remove the operator from the vehicle. 

The driver was assessed by EMS and later transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The fire departments that responded are remaining on the scene until the vehicle is removed from the building to monitor any potential structure collapses.
