LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Mr. Vaughn McCall (pictured above) an Air Force veteran can now move from his driveway into his home and feel safer and more secure thanks to an amazing partnership between Patuxent Habitat for Humanity, Christmas in April, Calvert County and the Patuxent River Naval Air Station Chief Petty Officers! The extremely talented group of volunteers from Patuxent Habitat for Humanity, led by George Zarecki and Walter Gutowski, Christmas in April, Calvert County volunteers led by Steve Sanders and Chief Petty Officers from Patuxent River Naval Air Station led by John Kemp completed the 35 foot ramp in a little over six hours.  This awesome group of volunteers has proven again to be a winning combination. The money for this ramp was made possible by a grant from The Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation grant.  Everyone deserves the opportunity to age in place with dignity in their own home and community, especially our veterans!

The Patuxent Habitat for Humanity Veteran Critical Repair Program is designed to repair homes for military veterans and their families. The program will assist with repairs identified in Habitat’s Critical Home Repair guidelines that may vary from roof repair and structural wall repairs to installing wheel chair ramps and remodeling bathrooms to be easily used by veterans with disabilities. If you would like to donate or volunteer for veteran programs please call Laurie at 301-863-6227 or email laurie@patuxenthabitat.org  for more information.
