LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – The Third Annual Great Mills Road Community Cleanup was held on June 1, 2024. Volunteers from around the community spent a day cleaning up Great Mills Road and the surrounding areas.
Hosted by St. Mary’s Community Development Corp., the event provided clean-up supplies for volunteers with a scrumptious celebratory lunch post-clean-up catered by Uncle D’s Grill. Cold brew coffee was also provided by St. Inie’s.

Isn’t this what people pay county taxes for? Isn’t the county’s public works department responsible for keeping the county roads picked up of debris and cleaned? This is a slap in the face to the county, and to the taxpayers of St. Mary’s county, that “volunteers” are necessary at all to be picking up trash along the counties roadways.
OR its people who love their community. AND… saving taxpayers money. AND… GOD forbid… socialism. Just like volunteer fire departments.
