WALDORF, Md. — The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed that a tragic house fire in Waldorf on Sunday has claimed the lives of six people, including four children.

The massive, two-alarm fire broke out Sunday morning, August 10, 2025, in the 3000 block of North Declaration Court. Initial reports indicated multiple residents were trapped inside as the fire spread to a neighboring home.

In an official update released at 5:49 p.m., investigators confirmed the incident is now a six-person fatal fire. The deceased have been identified as two adults and four children. Officials also stated that one adult resident managed to escape the blaze, and two other residents were not home when the fire started.

Investigators will remain at the scene focusing on the cause of the fire. According to the update, “No evidence of a criminal act has been recovered, and we continue to examine all accidental causes”. The scene is expected to remain active into the late evening hours.
