(October 1, 2015 – Bridgewater, NJ) The Blue Crabs and Patriots battled the elements in a weather delayed start in New Jersey. The scheduled 7:05 PM start was delayed due to rain moving through finally kicked off around 8:15 PM with light drizzle and temps in the fifties. The Blue Crabs held the 1-0 advantage going into the game and hit a roadblock as they fell to Somerset 7-2.

The Crabs struck early as Jovan Rosa hit a solo home run in the second to give Southern Maryland an early 1-0 lead. Somerset took the lead in the fourth with a three run inning followed by a four run fifth off of starter Brian Burres, who went 4.0 + IP, responsible for six runs off three hits and four walks.

David Vidal, Greg Hopkins, and Mike Wilson all contributed with a combined six RBI in the Somerset winning effort. The Blue Crabs struggled to get anything going, the scoring coming off Rosa’s home run and RBI ground out in the sixth.

John Lujan allowed all three runners he inherited in the fifth to score along with one earned run allowed. Jake Hale, Trey Barham and Brian Grening combined for three scoreless.

The series turns to Waldorf tomorrow for game three at 7:05, RHP Jon Leicester will take the hill. Game four will be on Saturday at 6:35.
