On April 1, 2015, Deputy Beishline assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, was at the Family Dollar located on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, investigating a theft.

Suspect Amber Maria Poisson, age 36, of Lexington Park, burst into the store and began yelling at one of the suspects in the theft. Deputy Beishline advised Poisson to step away, stop cursing, and lower her voice and she refused.

Poisson then attempted to strike Deputy Cole with her hand. Deputy Cole was able to jump back and avoid being hit by Poisson. Again, deputies ordered Poisson to calm down and step out of the store. Poisson refused. Deputy Beishline advised Poisson she was under arrest and directed her to place her hands behind her back.

Poisson refused all orders and actively resisted arrest as deputies attempted to gain control and place her in handcuffs.

After a brief struggle, Poisson was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car. She was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center and charged with 2nd Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.
