Kayla Marie Buckland

Piney Point, MD โ€“ On December 8th, Corporal E. Oโ€™ Connor responded to the 15000 block of Camp Merryelande Road, for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Cpl Oโ€™Connor made contact with the suspect who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

According to court documents “His (Langford) speech was slurred, and he admitted to drinking but advised the defendantย had drank ‘way more than he did’.”ย 

During routine questioning, one of the suspectโ€™s children was knocked out of their car seat and fell face first onto a landing. The suspect, Kayla Marie Buckland, age 34, of Piney Point, refused to cooperate and became very belligerent, subsequently hindering the investigation.ย 

“Trying to get the information of the children and she declined to give their names and date ofย birth, repeatedly saying ‘ask him’ (referring to her boyfriend),” according to court documents.ย 

The Department of Social Services was contacted, and another adult arrived to take the children into their custody, at which time, Buckland charged at the adult. While Deputy Lawrence placed Buckland under arrest, she became combative and kicked the Deputy in the chest. And charged with 2nd Degree Assault, Neglect of a Minor and Obstructing and Hindering.

Buckland does not currently have a court date set yet. Buckland faces a maximum jail sentence of 15 years and or a maximum fine of $7,500. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officer that filed these court documents was Cpl. Elizabeth O’Connor.ย
