Mechanicsville, MD— On June 27, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Bush responded to Ridge Road in Mechanicsville regarding a disturbance.
When Bush arrived on the scene, he made contact with the victim who advised, that he was assaulted by the defendant. The defendant was identified as Stephanie L. Edwards, 62 of Lexington Park.
The victim advised Edwards, “assaulted him by biting his right arm and striking him in the head with an ashtray,” according to charging documents.
Also during this incident, Edwards went to the kitchen and removed an eight-inch knife from a butcher’s block. The victim advised he was close enough to Edwards to get the knife away from her before she could do anything with it.
The victim also advised, “he thought Edwards was going to hurt him while she had possession of the knife,” according to charging documents. The victim stated that Edwards bit his arm before leaving the residence. The victim did have redness and swelling to his right forearm.
Edwards was located at the residence and placed under arrest. Edwards was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where she was charged with first-and second-degree assault.
At this time Edwards does not have a scheduled court date. Edwards faces a maximum jail sentence of 35 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
