LUSBY, MD – On June 8 at approximately 1:40 a.m. there was a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision involving a concrete truck which caused a temporary road closure during the Monday morning commute.
The westbound lane of Cove Point Road in Lusby was affected. The driver of the concrete truck advised Dfc. R. Weems an animal ran out in front of him and he swerved to miss it.
As a result of the driver’s actions, the vehicle ran off of the right shoulder and the driver then over-corrected which caused the vehicle to overturn. The concrete truck struck a Southern Maryland Electric utility pole during the series of events.
The concrete truck belonged to Chaney Enterprises and was being operated by Edward Tolson of Waldorf. He was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this collision. Charges are pending in this case.
