Lusby, MD – A midday fire damaged a one-story, single-family home on Barreda Boulevard in Lusby Monday, Oct. 26, state authorities reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the blaze, which was discovered and reported around 11:19 a.m. by a citizen, originated in a bedroom.
โThe accidental fire was the result of the electric baseboard heater igniting clothing,โ stated Dfm. Don Brenneman. โThere were no injuries reported. The occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.โ
A smoke alarm was present in the home but failed to activate during the incident.
Twenty-five firefighters from Solomons, St. Leonard and Bay District were dispatched to the scene and brought the flames under control in five minutes.
Brenneman and Dfm. Zack Dell investigated the fire.
The owner/occupant of the house is identified by the Maryland Fire Marshalโs Office as Andrea E. Hanson. Damage to the house is estimated at $51,000.

Drum Point, MD.— Reports at this time state that a working house fire is in progress at the location of Barreda Blvd.ย
