At 4 a.m. April 26, Charles County Sheriffโs officers responded to the 8000 block of Bowie Road in Nanjemoy for the attempted motor vehicle theft.
Officers contacted the victim and obtained suspect information. Officer L. Payne stopped a suspicious subject matching the description given from the victim a short time later.
He was identified as the person who attempted to steal the vehicle on Bowie Road. While conducting a search officers found a black metal pipe used as a smoking device for marijuana and a wallet in the suspectโs pocket. The wallet was found to be stolen.
The suspect was identified as Howard Bernard Dent, 38, of Temple Hills. He was charged with theft less than $500, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center on $3,000 bond.
