Early Morning Fire Causes $1.3 Million In Damages In Tall Timbers

TALL TIMBERS, Md. — The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning house fire in Tall Timbers, St. Mary’s County, that resulted in an estimated $1.3 million in damages.

The fire, which occurred on April 24, 2024 at 3:55 a.m., on Whitestone Drive was discovered by the homeowners, who were awakened by the activation of the smoke detectors inside the home. They found fire on the front portion of the two-and-a-half-story single-family dwelling.

Owner Douglas Hallgren and other occupants were able to exit through the back of the home. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, which took 70 firefighters and two alarms to control within 90 minutes.

The cause of the fire, which originated from the front of the home, is currently under investigation.
